On 2 March a stakeholders’ meeting took place organized by PROSAFE (Product Safety Forum of Europe) in the framework of the EEPLIANT project to which ESTIF as leader of the LabelPack A+ project was invited to exchange experiences on the implementation of product and package labels of space and combination heaters in Europe.

From EEPLIANT, the market surveillance authorities representing 12 EU countries shared their practical experiences regarding the penetration and accuracy of labels throughout Europe, relying on results of tests (document inspection, laboratory testing, in-situ test) on gas boilers (0 – 70 kW and 70 – 400 kW), heat pumps, installers and packages while the invited heating and cooling industry representatives, including ESTIF explained the challenges of the implementation of the regulations arising from technical, legal, administrative and market aspects.

The EEPLIANT is currently carrying out a survey addressing installers to get feedback on the package label. Preliminary results have been shared that are in line with the result of installers’ survey done in Portugal and Germany in the framework of the LabelPack A+ project, showing low penetration of the package label on the markets.

DG ENER gave insight into the forthcoming review process and advised to share these experience with the EC. Ideas were also exchanged briefly on how industry stakeholders and authorities shall cooperate in order to improve the current challenging situation.
