ESTIF and other renewable trade associations had a meeting with the Commissioner Miguel Arias Cañete on the 8th November. This meeting took place at a critical moment of the preparation of the European Commission proposals regarding the Clean Energy Package, which was released on the 30th November.
Pedro Dias, ESTIF Secretary General took part at this meeting, together with a group of representatives of from renewable trade associations, an informal cooperation named RES Steering Committee. They jointly presented some of their positions and concerns regarding some of the main issues related to the revision of the Renewables Directive and other proposals integrated in the Clean Energy Package. These included issues related to the 2030 targets and the importance of binding targets and adequate governance procedures; the importance of the EPBD and the EED revisions opening opportunities for renewables and the so called “European Common Rulebook”, covering support schemes and other relevant instruments.
