Category: Solar Heat News

The day before the ESTIF General Assembly, one of the workshops organised was dedicated to the topic “Solar thermal and Labelling activities - Interaction between regulations, standardisation and certification”.

This meeting provided an overview of upcoming challenges related to Energy Labelling and Ecodesign, as well as an update on the main work being done with regard to standardisation & certification activities related to solar thermal.

It included presentations on Energy Labelling and Eco-design Directives review, from Paolo Basso, EHI (European Heating Industry Association); the status of implementation of the package label, by Eva Flora Varga from ESTIF and the Labelpack A+ project; Relevant developments in standardisation & certification regarding labelling, by Gerard Van Amerongen, ESTIF expert consultant from VA Consult; Solar thermal and energy labelling: the Lot1 & Lot2 review, by Pedro Dias, ESTIF Secretary General and; the role of SKN Certification and Global Certification, done by Harald Drück, from ITW and also SKN honorary chairman, GSCN chairman and ESTIF Board member. The presentations are available here.

The debate was interesting and the topic proved to need additional time for discussion. This shall be followed up in upcoming meetings, namely within ESTESC (European Solar Thermal Energy Standardisation & Certification Working Group). At this stage it is scheduled an ESTESC Coordination meeting, on the 25th January, which will prepare also the ESTESC Plenary meeting, which has been, in the meantime postponed to end February.

All those, in particular technical experts, interested in participating more actively in these discussions and even in joining ESTESC are invited to contact the ESTIF secretariat at members(at)estif.org
