ESTIF presenting the Clean Energy Package to National Associations

Date: 20 Feb 2017
Category: Solar Heat News

On January 18, and on February 8, Stefano Lambertucci, ESTIF policy officer, presented ESTIF’s analysis of the Clean Energy Package to the German national association (BSW) and to the French association (ENERPLAN).

The package represents the legislative framework for the implementation of the EU climate and energy policy between 2021 and 2030, with specific targets for CO2 reduction, energy efficiency improvements and deployment of renewables.

The presentation highlighted the most relevant changes in the main legislation impacting our sector, namely the Energy Efficiency Directive, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, and the RES Directive. The focus has been on the measures that are likely to impact, either positively or negatively, the solar thermal sector. A special attention has been dedicated to the new measure, requiring Member States to increase their share of renewable heat by 1% per year.
