ESTIF members consultation on policy papers

Date: 28 Apr 2017
Category: Solar Heat News

As part of its policy activities, ESTIF recently worked on four different documents, that have been opened to consultation for our members.

First of all, ESTIF elaborated a policy strategy document, that has been presented and validated from ESTIF Board of Directors, setting the main aims, target, actions and timeframe for ESTIF to intervene in the Clean Energy Package negotiation.

Secondly, ESTIF elaborated a position paper on the Clean Energy Package. The document outlines ESTIF key messages and positions on the package. It has a dissemination character, intended to target policy-makers, and is being used in dissemination activities in the Parliament and Council.

Thirdly, ESTIF, together with siblings associations from the renewable heating sector, EGEC and AEBIOM, worked on a position paper on the electrification of heating. The document tackles the issue of the electrification of heating, by setting a clear division between efficient/wild electrification, and providing arguments against the second one.

Finally, again together with EGEC and AEBIOM, ESTIF elaborated a complementary paper, dealing with the specific issue of the Primary Energy Factor (PEF). The document outlines the impact of a lower PEF, currently under discussion in the framework of EED, in other EU legislation, particularly on ecodesign and energy labelling policies. It calls for policy-makers to limit the application of the new PEF to the scope of the EED, and argues for a value of 2.2.

ESTIF members are still welcome to provide inputs and feedbacks on those documents, either by written form or directly contacting ESTIF Secretariat.
