Work on price reduction of solar thermal systems progressing

Date: 28 Apr 2017
Category: Solar Heat News

The IEA implementing agreement on solar heating and cooling has set up a task on price reduction of solar thermal systems. This task is now half-way on its work (from October 2015 to October 2018) and starts presenting the first results.

These will be debated at the next experts meeting, in Rapperswil, Switzerland, on 3-4 May 2017.

This meeting will debate the work and findings insofar on topics such as levelised costs of heat, cost tool definition, life cycle costs of reference and optimised systems, cost optimization or innovative, cost efficient processes and components.

ESTIF has been cooperating with this task, both in the framework of the FROnT project and the ESTTP (European Solar Thermal Technology Panel). Unfortunately, additional cooperation is not feasible due to restrictions in terms of resources, human and financial. Still, ESTIF secretariat will hold two presentations online for the meeting participants, on key decision factors for European consumers and on promoting transparency on energy costs for heating & cooling solutions.
