RES industry asks for more ambitious target for 2030

Date: 22 May 2016
Category: Solar Heat News

The RES Steering Group, a cooperation between the European RES trade associations, agreed on a statement asking for the European Commission to aim for higher targets for RES in 2030.

This joint position of the European renewable energy industries was addressed to Vice-President Šef?ovi? and Commissioner Arias Cañete, in relation to the preparatory work for the revised Renewable Energy Directive.

Following the call from President Juncker to maintain global leadership in renewables and the increased ambition in terms of decarbonisation coming out of Paris, these organisations call on the European Commission to model an appropriate range of policy scenarios this year, which should include renewable energy targets of at least 30%, 35% and 40% by the year 2030.
