Energy Labelling: an update

Date: 10 May 2016
Category: Solar Heat News

The Member of the EU Parliament David Tamburrano, Rapporteur on the new framework for energy efficiency labelling, has succeeded in finding a synthesis between the nearly 700 amendments to the report by his colleagues in the ITRE committee.

The Compromise Amendments cover a broad range of issues under the original report. Most interestingly, compromise amendments on Art.7 on labels and rescaling seem to open a door for a differentiated treatment of heating appliances. According to this compromise, on a transitional basis, labels for product groups with more than two primary energy sources that need more than seven energy efficiency classes to achieve differentiation, shall not be subject to the repeal of the respective delegated acts introducing the labels A+++ A++ and A+.

Vote in ITRE committee will be on the 24th May. Plenary vote is expected in the second half of June.
