On the 1^st of March, ESTIF's Secretary General Pedro Dias participated in a meeting between the recently formed RES Steering Committee and the Director General of DG ENER, Dominique Ristori.

The meeting was a first-of-its-kind for the RES Steering Committee putting together in an informal way all Secretary Generals and CEOs of the renewable energy industries trade associations in Brussels, with the aim of coordinating actions towards EU policy-making.

RES Steering Committee members expressed their points of view on the incoming legislation review, with a particular focus on the RES Directive, taking as a basis the joint RES statement published earlier on February. The discussion touched upon issues such as financing of renewable energy, synergies between energy efficiency and renewables, the EU 2030 targets and governance.

Director General Ristori was particularly pleased with the friendliness and relaxed environment on which the meeting took place and expressed appreciation for the increased cooperation among RES trade associations. He also suggested for similar meetings to be held on a more regular basis.
