ESTIF takes STA side in UK's battle over RHI

Date: 04 Mar 2016
Category: Solar Heat News

As the UK government launched a consultation on the future of the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) support scheme, on the 3rd of March, proposing an end to the support of solar thermal hot water heating, the British solar thermal industry strongly reacted against this proposal, as the latest Solar Trade Association press release shows.

In the past weeks, ESTIF intensively collaborated with the Solar Trade Association in order to try to avoid such a negative outcome, by providing data and case studies from the ‘continent’, and bringing the European perspective on the issue. ESTIF also wrote a letter to the British Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC), clearly stating the reasons why solar thermal should be kept inside the RHI scheme. ESTIF will continue to follow this issue closely, and to provide support to STA through the consultation process and beyond.
