2nd EU Energy Summit - EU ENERGY POLICY IN THE WAKE OF COP 21

On February 23, ESTIF participated in the second EU Energy Summit in Brussels. The conference was intended to assess the outcomes of COP21 and to debate the orientations for the future EU energy policy. The discussion also took into account the decisions taken so far by the European Union aiming at organising its energy market under its “2030 Climate and Energy Framework”,
More than 300 energy stakeholders participated, and Commissioner Cañete gave an keynote introduction speech. The Summit was also an opportunity to discuss future legislations to be adopted by the EU. Participants debated in particular the role of gas in the future energy mix, as well as the role of energy efficiency and renewables in the energy transition.
