On 15th June, in the framework of the EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), the FROnT project consortium (led by ESTIF) organised a conference on how Europe can seize the opportunity to become a world leader in renewable heating and cooling. The conference, which gathered a large audience of stakeholders, was intended to present the preliminary results of the project, particularly the strategic policy priorities for the development of the renewable heating and cooling sector, elaborated by the project partners.

The conference, moderated by MEP Sean Kelly, saw the participation of DG Ener Director Marie Donnelly, Iceland Industry and Commerce Minister Elín Árnadóttir, Lithuanian Vice-Minister for Energy Vidmantas Macevicius, a representative of the Dutch Presidency of the Council, and ADENE CEO Gabriela Prata Dias, representing the project consortium.

The conference started with a keynote speech from Director Donnelly, which underlined the recent activities the Commission has been promoting to increase support to the sector. The panelists then discussed different country approaches towards heating & cooling planning at national level, and different paths towards the increased deployment of renewable heating and cooling. Finally, Gabriela Prata presented the FROnT project assessment of the barriers hampering the deployment of renewable heating & cooling, and the strategic policy priorities the consortium is proposing to tackle those barriers.
