The Solar Keymark a to z
Solar keymark: THE Quality Label for Solar Thermal Products in Europe
A new brochure to help boost your solar thermal business
The Solar Keymark was developed by the European Solar Thermal Industry
Federation (ESTIF) and CEN (European Committee for Standardisation)
in close co-operation with leading European test labs and with the support of the European Commission.
It is the main quality label for solar thermal products and is widely spread across the European market and beyond.

solar thermal potential in europe
The potential of solar thermal in Europe
To provide the European Union and its Member States with substantiated information on the contribution solar thermal can make to the 20% renewable energy target set by the RES Directive (2009/28/EC), detailed surveys were conducted in five representative countries: Austria, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Spain. The information gathered was then extrapolated to the 27 EU countries and the future heating and cooling demand was calculated for 2020, 2030 and 2050, taking into account a decline of the overall energy demand due to energy efficiency measures.
Bycompleting the order form you will be able to obtain a free pdf copy of the study.
European Solar Days, 1-13 May 2012
The European Solar Days successfully promote the use of a free unlimited renewable energy source available everywhere to everyone to generate electricity as well as heating and cooling: the SUN.
They are celebrated in an increasing number of countries and in 2011 around 8000 events were held in 19 European countries by diverse organisations ranging from solar equipment manufacturers to schools and local authorities.
Solar Keymark: A certification scheme for Europe
The Solar Keymark is widely recognised in solar thermal support programmes throughout Europe.
The mark certifies the conformity of a solar thermal collector or system to the relevant European Standards
(EN 12975 or EN 12976).
For information on how to obtain the Solar Keymark, please see www.solarkeymark.org
A Strategic Research Agenda for solar thermal
Making solar thermal products even better
and work in more applications. This is the solar thermal sector's goal.
Industry and researchers have come together in the European Solar Thermal Technology Panel (ESTTP) to identify the needs of solar thermal R&D.
Among the top priorities are compact heat storages, solar thermal for industrial processes, and solar cooling. With the right kind of research solar thermal can be used for much more than just heating houses or sanitary water.

MoreEuropean solar thermal market affected by strong decline in Germany’s heating equipment sales
Date : 21/12/07Brussels, 21 December 2007. After four years of very dynamic growth, the European solar thermal (ST) market registers a 10% decrease in sales in 2007. Many factors contributed to a 33% decline of Germany’s market. ESTIF urges policy makers to implement solar obligations to speed-up the market...
MoreEREC Press Release: Stop perverse VAT incentive against renewable energy sources
Date : 12/11/07Reduced VAT rates should also be applicable to renewables, not only to gas and electricity consumption, says the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC)
MoreESTIF Position Paper: Heating and Cooling in the upcoming EU Renewables Directive
Date : 09/11/07The forthcoming EU Renewables Directive will introduce measures to reach 20% renewables in the EU by 2020. Heating and cooling from renewable energy sources (RES-H) are crucial to reaching this target. And solar thermal offers particular advantages: It does not rely on scarce resources, it is...
MoreEuropean Parliament votes for renewable heat obligations
Date : 25/09/07Brussels, 25/09/2007: Today, the European Parliament approved by overwhelming majority the “Thomsen Report” on the Roadmap for Renewable Energies in Europe. Crucial for the future of solar thermal: the call for the adoption in all Member States of renewable heat obligations, at least in new...
MoreSolar obligations: first comprehensive study on best practice has been published
Date : 18/09/07Brussels, 18/09/2007: The first comprehensive study on solar obligations was published by ESTIF today. The study is based on case studies and experiences from five countries. Solar obligations are considered as a key instrument to promote a renewable and sustainable heat supply in Europe.
